Lucky Star 6

Blogged by on Wednesday September 24th, 2008 at 3:51 pm in English, Manga (spoilers), Others | 0 Comments »

So I’ve read the latest Lucky Star book. A nice read as expected. It was funny, nothing that made me laught my ass off but still that pleasant light humor and everyday-life talks.

In this book, Konata’s crew graduates from high-school, but the author has chosen to not make a big deal of it. It actually takes only 3 yonkoma from the Konata-crew’s point of view, and 4 yonkoma from Kuroi-sensei’s side. Also, since the comics in the book aren’t published in order, it just continues with Konata’s school-life after that as like nothing happened, so it really was like a minor event.

But I think we got a taste of what Lucky Star will be in the future : Kou-chan-sempai as the main character watching over the Hiyori-Yutaka-Minami trio and the Hikaru-Fuyuki combi as a tsukkomi-character. ‘Cause indeed, as the cover suggests, this book was full of Kou comics, which was a good thing because I wub Kou-chan-sempai since I played the ps2 game. MAI WAIFU !

Sadly enough though, Yamato doesn’t appear in the story, ‘not yet’ hopefully. It got also a few Akira comics that I couldn’t care less about, and these awesome sketches I mentionned in the previous post which were much love & piece.

That ojou-sama from one of
Hiyorin’s random fantasy is cute <3 <3 <3

img259-2
I so fuckin hate when something like that happens >_<
I remember having like 89 favorites on my Youtube account,
last time I checked it was down to 66 videos orz

img261
Lovely Tsukasa, trauma switch on XD

img264
Konata asks Miyuki and Kagamin to imitate each others.
Miyuki speaking in a familiar way : do want to see it in the anime.

img266
Hiyori selling her doujin at Comiket :
Guy from Comptiq Magazine : “May I have a talk with you ?”
Hiyorin : “(my cheek… it hurts… eh ?
no way… THAT AIN’T A DREAM !?)”
Hiyorin : “that’s right… even in dreams, pinching your cheek
actually hurts…”
XD

img269
H : “When it’s something you like, you want to take
tons of pictures of it, right ?”
Y : “Do you have a camera too, Tamura-san ?”
H : “Yup, when something happens I take a picture
and upload it on my blog… HA !!”
Y&M : “want to see it, Tamura-san’s blog~”
H : “da-da-da- DAME DAME ! you can’t !”
Y : “eh~ ? why ?”
H : “People under 18 are not allowed to visit this website… !!”
Y : “Tamura-san too is under 18 though…”

Heh, finally somebody notices that Hiyorin is under 18. XD Well, just that I always found amusing seeing Konata, Hiyori and Patty hiding ecchi stuffs from Yutaka, while it’s totally ok for Hiyori and Patty to be in deh ecchi and play eroge… just because they’re otaku. XD Wait I just thought of it… but Hikage is like 12 years old and works occasionally in a shop selling doujins… :o

img271
Kou heard Konata & Hiyori talking about
Street Fighter IV at the game center…
“Now that I think of it, I never really cared
about the games before SFIII.
Let’s check how Ryu-sama and Ken-sama looked in their young days”
“wow, SFII was released before I was born !
(how can that peck know about this game ?)”
shock
“Hiyorin… the Ryu-sama and Ken-sama inside me are DEAD !”

After reading that comic, I feel so old~

img273
“When I get up and that there’s nobody home, I feel lonely…”
awww lonely Tsukasa~

img275-2
Kou finally sees Konata at school for the first time during the gradutaion ceremony…
Posting it just cause Kou looks cute in the second panel <3 <3 <3

img276
Nanako : “Ah iya that’s not it, it’s just that I got something in my eye”
Nanako : “I see… You got something in your eye too, Sakuraba-sensei”
Kuroi-sensei <3

img279
book : Grimm Fairy Tales
Yutaka : “Cinderella is… Snow White is… ;_; ”
XD

img280
“N- No that’s not it… I just wanted to pat your head… T_T ”
Minami is so cute <3
and ponytail Kou-chan-sempai : HOT <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

img281
Konata : “Frail younger characters are nice and all, but I definitely
can’t get enough of onee-san characters !”
Yui : “You say ‘onee-san’ ‘onee-san’, but aren’t
these characters actually younger than the people who plays to this kind of games ?”
Konata : “It’s because we are young in heart, nee-san !”

lol the thruth XD ALL HAIL IZUMI KONATA OUR QUEEN !

img282
since Hiyorin always forgets her ideas the time she goes to her desk
for writting them down, she now sleeps with her notebook…
Hiyori : “… and finally I end up not being able to decode it”
Tsukasa : “Ah ! that’s exactly the same thing with my notebook
when I sleep during class !”
First panel, semi-sleeping Hiyorin : CUTE <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

img283
Hikaru : “When Fuyuki has something in mind, she just want to do it
whatever the circumstances”
Fuyuki : “I’m cleaning the room so get up from here”
Hikaru : “I’m reading, do it later”
Kou : “I can imagine that indeed”
Fuyuki : Mou… I will just go back home without cleaning, you know !”
Kou : “wait… we were talking about Hikaru-sensei’s room !?”

Kou : “Fuyuki-chan you just can’t clean the room of
somebody like her ! (clean my room instead !)”
Hikaru : “Ha ? you can go. I didn’t ask you anyway”
Fuyuki : “mumumu~”
Kou : “I think she’s right, being angry once in a while”
Fuyuki : “I give you 30 minutes and then I’ll do it for real !”
Kou : “AMAI YO ! FUYUKI-CHAN !”
Fuyuki : “but I just can’t let the room like this…”

Hikaru (Sakuraba-sensei) and Fuyuki (Amahara-sensei), the lovely yuri teachers combi. They occasionally call each others “otou-san” and “kaa-san” like an old couple, I think it’s fukken cute.

img284
“WHAT ARE YOU SAYING ?! JAPAN IS GREAT
BECAUSE IT HAS SCHOOL UNIFORMS !!!”
The few Patty comics are mostly here for saying that
Japan isn’t all about moe, anime and otaku
unlike foreigners think (?).

Viva copy-pasta and the Flexible-Upload wordpress plugin~

Now waiting for the OVA which is released next week, and hoping to be able to see it somehow. orz

Kou-chan-sempai is love.

Le Post de la rentrée

Blogged by on Thursday September 11th, 2008 at 3:30 pm in English, Français, Games, Life hates me | 1 Comment »

Yippie Kai Yeah~

=====

Also, wanted to talk a bit about the games I’m playing now. Well I switch suddenly into english-mode, but I just felt like writing something in english cause it has been a while, and for some reason I feel like I can go “moe~” et “KITA \o/” without any shame when speaking in english (don’t ask). Though, I’m not really playing video games that much lately so I thought it didn’t need a separated post. But I’ve been reading manga a lot so I may write about some of them, and the nice thing is that I could scan some random pages from them so I’ll be able to make some pictures-friendly post again~.

So for the Ps2, cleared the Lucky Star game since a few weeks now. Actually, I said it before, but if I had a camera and internet, I would have made plenty of posts about this game, and maybe even a full walkthrough with pictures, cause I really enjoyed it. This game was what I actually wish Lucky Star to be : iyashi-kei and short stories. I mean, I really wish that Lucky Star was an iyashi-kei show with one-episode stories instead of the 4-koma gags pattern without any scenario. Don’t get me wrong, I still find LS to be a nice show, but I’ve always thought that the best thing about LS is its cast of characters, and it’s a shame to not having the chance to see them involved in some random stories. Honestly I think LS would be legend if it stops being ‘Azumanga-ish’ (I loved Azumanga but still), IMO. And like I said earlier, the game offered me that I wanted, so I found it was great.

About the main story, you play a guy who’s tranfered in Konata’s class, and end up helping the crew preparing the school festival. At the end of the festival though, the main guy suddenly ‘loops’ and is brought back to the day he got tranfered in the LS crew’s school. Being trapped in a time-loop, the main guy will have to find the reason behind this strange situation by ‘living’ again and again that period of time. Each time-loop is actually a story, like a “Tokidoki Memorial” parody, the crew being thrown in a MMORPG, or a “Toki wo kakeru Shoujo” parody. The game also gives lot of lines to characters who didn’t have lot (or any) screentime in the show, like Hiyori or Kou (mai waifu).

Now I’m playing another visual novel, the Kashimashi ~Girl meets Girl~ game. I’ve read the manga again recently, so that had to be the game to play next. :)

Unlike the LS game, Kashimashi is more like a ‘goods’ game. There isn’t any story really, you play as Hazumu and just spend quality time with the crew during summer vacation, and 3 hours is enough to clear one of the girls’ route. The chara-design isn’t as good as in the manga or the anime, but it has some nice event CGs and explicit kiss scenes that are very welcome. Also the 2 original characters are cute, especially Kakeno, a long-haired shy meganekko (same seiyuu as Isumi in Hayate no Gotoku <3 ).

For the DS, I didn’t really have played with it until recently after clearing the Phoenix Wright serie, mostly cause there wasn’t any game which really piqued my insterest. Until I saw that some ‘servicey’ (otaku-oriented) games are finally being released. I decided to give a try to MoeSta, some japanese game for learning english (and I sure needs that kind of game :p ). If you like ‘engrish’, that’s definitly the game
you should play. XD

Well if you are a native english-speaker or someone who speaks english fluently, you’ll be S-ranked everywhere without any effort and clear the game in no time (but note that you also have to know a bit of japanese because of the english-to-japanese MCQs). Anyway, the interesting thing about this game isn’t studying english, but that’s the fact that it’s really a well produced game. First thing, the story mode is full-voiced (even the stupid main guy) which is kinda unexpected on the DS. It also contains plenty of animated event CGs, and some very nice anime videos (here is the game intro, can’t help watching it everytime I play~). Moreover the story is quite funny (the chapter when the main guy is thrown in some 8-bits RPG is priceless), and the girls are cute (especially the main guy’s childhood friend Wakana). Last thing, Yuko Goto and Rie Kugimiya are a part of the cast (Rie isn’t the loli for a change, but the hot red-haired onee-san). Hope to see more games like this one (and the Majo Shinpan serie) released on the DS~

Man… x-box hueg post orz

see ya soon with shorter posts

So… since the pic was actually pretty simple, I decided to have a little fun with ‘toshop and to try to ‘redraw’ it with the pen tool, for having nice curves and stuff before coloring.

Well it was long but I somewhat got the trick I think… I wish I had a tablet tho ._.

And here is the colored version.

I made also a wallpaper. 1024×768

Who would have thought that my first Lucky Star pic would have been a Patty pic instead of a Kagamin pic… dondake~

Today’s episodes

Blogged by on Saturday October 6th, 2007 at 4:30 am in Anime (spoilers), English | 0 Comments »

iDOLM@STER Xenoglossia 25 : seems like Yukiho-chan won’t be the final boss finally… but still, I liked my bad and lil’ psycho Yukiho-chan.

Ribbon-chan is cute when she gets serious.

And evil Yukiho was great. Also, it’s the first time that I heard Yui Horie as the “bad guy”.

What I was actually waiting for…

I was looking forward to this fight ’cause who says fight says also teary reconciliation.

Hayate no Gotoku 27 : so the show is entering in its tournament mode…

キタ━━━━(゚∀゚)━━━━ !!!!!
Hinagiku is entering the tournament as a butler, and on top of that, as Miki’s butler. That couldn’t be more awesome. Now I just hope she’ll kick Hayata-kun’s ass.

Lucky Star 23 : and so again, got to see the last episode a second time thanks to afk (well episode 24 is a one-story episode, so episode 23 is the last episode using the “4koma” pattern).

The Awesome Otaku Girls trio. Are such nice otaku girls really existing somewhere ?

One of my favorite scenes finally animated. Hiyorin FTW.

So Minami’s fans who haven’t read the manga can finally see her true colors. She’s not a Ay*nami R*i-chan clone.

Obligatory KonaKaga pic.

The anime version wins for having Patty as a regular character.

Dennou Coil 15 : Now that Gurren Lagann ended, I can say that Dennou Coil is my favorite anime from everything I’m watching now. Again, an awesome episode. Yasako is lovely.

Nagasarete Airantou 26 : a rather typical end for a rather typical show. It was a decent.

First time I see a new character introduced at the end of a final episode. O_o
I guess she is a character from the manga they couldn’t put in the anime. But I don’t think they will make a second season for this show.

This is the time for the fall season animes to appear now.

Lucky Star 22, Dennou Coil 14

Blogged by on Thursday October 4th, 2007 at 6:20 am in Anime (spoilers), English | 0 Comments »

Again thanks to afk I got a reason to rewatch an awesome episode.

I sometimes feel that, despite being one of the four main characters, Miyuki gets a rather limited screentime.

Konata and Kagami sharing a sweet potatoe. Usually in anime, it’s what we call an indirect kiss, and they make quite a fuss about. Funny that Konata-chan didn’t mention anything about it, you would expect that she’d tease Kagamin with that.

I guess it’s the reason why Soujirou is so appreciated on 4ch*n.

Second half was simply awesome. I shed manly tears.

Dennou 14 was mostly a summary episode. Well, it’s ok once in a while.

Is it me, or does Akira actually use his pet for peeping on her sis Fumie under the shower ?

Akira-sama is watching you.

Nagasarete Airantou (episodes 1 ~ 25)

Blogged by on Thursday October 4th, 2007 at 4:50 am in Anime (spoilers), English | 0 Comments »

Short summary : After a fight with his father, Ikuto runs away from home and decides to board a ship for taking some vacation. But the ship is hit by a storm, and Ikuto wakes up later on an isolated island full of girls who are still living like in the medieval era.

Well… really typical harem anime. A bit crazy, but far less than Seto no Hanayome. It’s silly and there is no drama, so it’s the kind of lighthearted servicey show you can watch if you have too much time in your hands. Personally, I’ve sticked with this show mostly because the heroine Suzu is dubbed by Yui Horie (this time into “Manabi-mode” instead of “Yasuna-mode”) and for knowing more about Rin who I was interested in at first. But for a show about an island full of girls, I sure didn’t feel any yuri vibes.

Finally I enjoy it quite a bit, mostly for its lightheartedness and some of the characters, Ayane, Chikage-san (dubbed by Shizuka Ito, aka Akiha-sama/Hinagiku/Darry), Rin (dubbed by Ryoko Shiraishi, aka Hayata-kun) and Shinobu.

Rin the carpenter. I’ve always been into boyish/tomboy characters, so she’s naturally the character I liked at first. She’s in fact a bit clumsy and feminine, and is actually better as a cooker than as a carpenter.

I guess it’s a rule in manga/anime (Japan ?) : put 2 girls in a bath and it will end up with breasts-fondling action.

You know, ever since I started to watch this show, there is something that I find “attractive” about Ayane, but I can’t tell what it is… maybe her “unattractiveness” ? Anyway, she ended up being my favorite character with no reason, even though she’s bratty and irritating. I wish Machi-nee could give her a break sometimes. ;_;

Episode 18, Shinobu appears. A clumsy ninja AND samurai. She rapidly became my second favorite. This is also because she is dubbed by the seiyuu of Mugi from Hitohira, Orie Kimoto, a beginner seiyuu who I’m already fan of.

Still dunno what I like about her.

This show really got a nice cast, since this character from episodes 19 & 20 was dubbed by Yuki Matsuoka (Tsuruya-san). Awesome scene, btw.

Zettai muri !

iDOLM@STER Xenoglossia (episodes 1 ~ 24)

Blogged by on Wednesday October 3rd, 2007 at 10:40 pm in Anime (spoilers), English | 0 Comments »

Short summary : Haruka, a girl from the countryside, moves to Tokyo because of an audition for becoming an idol, but she has in fact been chosen for defending Earth from falling meteors by piloting a giant mecha.

The only similarity between this anime and the game I talked about before is the name.

I still don’t get the point of making an anime based on a game if half of the characters actually don’t share the design and/or personality of their former self (duh Azusa and Yayoi >_> ), well except of course for blatant commercial aspect thanks to the iM@S franchise.

Even more incomprehensible when a idol raising/dating-sim game is transformed into a shitty mecha anime. Yeah, I said it earlier, I hate mecha animes, so I’d have rather seen a typical harem comedy show.

But well, I couldn’t not watch it, since it was somewhat related to a game I’m interested in, I had to give it a watch. Moreover, Iori and Yukiho are respectively dubbed by the seiyuu of Tomari and Yasuna from Kashimashi, Yukari Tamura and Yui Horie (Tomari is one of my fav manga/anime characters ever, and Yui Horie is my favorite seiyuu).

And… ok I must admit that even if I really disliked this show at first, I grew some sympathy for it. When there isn’t all that mecha crap, it’s in my opinion a decent show. Mostly when the episodes are centered on Iori or Yukiho. The mecha lovers actually think that these character-centered episodes are boring, but really, I think they are the best episodes of the show (fuck the purists, anyway).

Again, it’s because of some specific characters that I started to watch a show, and that I’m still watching it. Yeah, I don’t need more reason, having at least a character I like is enough for sticking with an anime. And Iori and Yukiho are the main reason I’m watching this show. Iori is a lovely boyish and tsundere character, and Yukiho is a gentle girl with a hidden comical side.

Episode 5 was a nice Yukiho-centered episode, which ended with this great Haruka x Yukiho scene. Yuri even makes shitty mecha anime being better.

So basically, Haruka and her robot are in love with each others. LOL mecha animes…
But I kinda like the idea of Haruka keeping everythings secret from her friend Yayoi, and that this very one is thinking that Haruka got a boyfriend when she’s speaking of her mecha.

Haruka has to flash her mecha for making it more obedient… and the mecha is actually recording the whole scene, lol. Well all the girl x mecha love crap is so ridiculous that you may find it eventually funny.

Episode 10 was an awesome Iori-centered episode. She reminds me so much of Tomari, and not only because they share the same seiyuu. I so liked this scene, when she run hiding herself without any words to let her joy explode, so cute.

Her forehead shines during action scenes, and that’s awesome.

And well, she’s a tsundere.

Episode 11. What is the best way to prevent someone from dying by cold ? The japanese method : skinship. (classic)

The Iori from the flashbacks looked like the Iori from the game.

OMG Kamina reincarnated into Iori.

My favorite episode so far was the 20th, which was love and tears.

It starts with what is surely the best scene of the show, the grand reunion between the twins Ami & Mami, after that Mami was being “trapped” and put into coma for 7 years into her mecha, which wanted to cure her while she was in a close-to-death state after a serious injury.

Then, it turned in a Nanaka 6/17 kind of way, which was nice.

Half of episode 20, Haruka broke after that Yukiho betrayed her and joined the enemy, and started to act creepy (and Iori is still great).

… before turning into a totally cute (without these stupid ribbons) hikikomori (end of ep 20 and most of ep 21). After that the ep was Chihaya and Azusa-san centered, respectively about their mecha love and adopted father love (duh).

Joseph is the funniest character of the show.

Episode 24… Azusa died in a pretty fucked way, Haruka confessed her love to her mecha, and Chihaya is deh new Sephiroth… but I must confess that I’m looking forward to the final fight between Haruka and Yukiho.

Lucky Star 21

Blogged by on Wednesday October 3rd, 2007 at 3:08 am in Anime (spoilers), English | 0 Comments »

Wait… what ? didn’t Lucky Star end already ? There was even a post about it already…

yeah but heh… a.f.k. just released their release of the 21th episode, so it makes a good reason to watch this great episode again, the one with the school trip to Nara and Kyoto.

Even when Miyuki is speaking, Kagamin can’t take her eyes off Kona-chan.

Patty got a little appearance in this episode. I hope she will get more screentime if there is a second season. The manga totally ignores her, sadly. :/

Hiyorin’s only appearance was win.

After she saw Tsukasa being nearly raped by a bunch of deers, Konata lures Kagamin because she wants to be raped by her… am I wrong ?

As I said in the previous post about Lucky Star, Konata was the only one who noticed Kagamin’s change of attitude.

This scene was very painful for me to watch.

We love Kagamei.

The previous comment says everything, I guess.

Dennou Coil 13, Seto no Hanayome 26 (END)

Blogged by on Tuesday October 2nd, 2007 at 6:15 am in Anime (spoilers), English | 0 Comments »

Dennou Coil 13, great episode again. Fumie-chan rocks <3

Last episode of Gurren Lagann was epic, but last episode of Seto no Hanayome was quite epic too. XD

I noticed that I didn’t even post any screenshots of Akeno, aka the “Nayamashi Banchou”, in the previous Seto no Hanayome post, even though she’s my second favorite. Old-fashionned kendoka girls à la Motoko (Love Hina) always rock.

Delicious Maki, Masa-san, and Shark Fujishiro, the kick-ass trio.

Overally, it was a pretty funny show. Sometimes a little too crazy, but it had also some hilarious moments and parodies.
