The iDOLM@STER Break !

Well, I mentionned it before but The iDOLM@STER is at the top of the list of games I wish to play.

At first, when I saw articles about this game on japanese blogs, it was just by curiosity. But since that time I eventually grew some sympathy for the characters, and finally became a iM@S fanboy. So, when this iM@S manga got released some weeks ago, I just couldn’t not to give it a read.

imasbreak01_0001

And this manga was cute. Really cute. Too cute. As in ‘innocent’.

In fact, I got the bad feeling that this manga was actually aimed at kids. orz

For god’s sake… BRING MY AWESOME SEKUHARA P BACK XD

I mean, dude, as far as I saw from the tons of vids which got posted on youtube, the game gets a pretty nice amount of service. And there is this ‘pai touch’ thing which made this game so famous on deh otaku internet… and there was nothing of these things in this book, and that’s kind of unexpected when you know that the author is Takuya Fujima, one of Ken Akamatsu’s (Love Hina/Negima) ‘disciple’.

But well, at least the art is cute. As I said, Fujima is one of Akamatsu’s disciple (he’s doing that negima spinoff manga, Negima-Neo) so the art is pretty ‘akamatsuish’,  and I always have been a sucker for Akamatsu’s easily imitable yet nice art.

Ok, now is the time for random scans and copypasta~

The 765 (Namco) Production’s shachou invites his beloved grandson, Yutaro, to a party for introducing him to ‘somebody’…
lol uber plain main guy~
He’s supposed to be 16, even if he doesn’t look like it… dunno, maybe it’s because the author is too much into Negima…

imasbreak01_0003
And the boy meets the girl~

imasbreak01_0005 imasbreak01_0004
Party with 765 Prod’s employees~
For some obscure reason, the manga features only 6 of the 10 heroines : Haruka, Miki, Yayoi, Chihaya (<3 <3 <3 <3 <3), Iori (<3 <3 <3 <3) and Yukiho… wait, NO AZUSA-SAN ?!
Makoto, Ritsuko and Ami/Mami are missing too… well, at least it gets Kotori, the very popular secretary girl XD

imasbreak01_0006
Shachou annonces, oh surprise, that Yutaro will be the future purodyusaa-san~
Side note : as if Iori didn’t get enough moe attributes already, the author added a fang… approved ! <3

imasbreak01_0007
Right page : in this manga, the idols are actually performing as a band. Well, that may explain why they are ‘only’ 6, the author surely wanted to spare us from another Morning Musume XD
Left page : haha Kotori luvs the manly shachou XD

imasbreak01_0008
That’s the kind of ‘service’ this manga delivers… :o

imasbreak01_0009
Chihaya is just the BEST <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
HAWT !
And that upper-panel on the left page, DEH LOVE <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 (did I mention that Haruka x Chihaya was one of my most wanted pairings ? a Iori x Yayoi is fine too~)

imasbreak01_0010
Random fantasy~
Chihaya & Iori : <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

imasbreak01_0011
That’s supposed to be the ‘hottest’ Yutaro x Haruka moment… XD
Ah~ the innocence~

imasbreak01_0012
I must say that Fujima–sensei’s Yukiho is damn CUTE

imasbreak01_0013
Yutaro : “Eh ? Sorry, your voice is too low, I can’t really hear you…”
Yukiho : “So- sorry, I’m not at ease when talking with boys… ///;;”
Yukiho : “Is it ok now, like this ?”
Yukiho~

imasbreak01_0014
oh man… DEH LOVE

imasbreak01_0015
Obligatory onsen service~
You still have lot to learn from Akamatsu-sensei, Fujima-san XD

imasbreak01_0016
This manga is going straight for the Haruka route…

imasbreak01_0017
Chihaya FTW

imasbreak01_0019 imasbreak01_0018
Finally get the chance to see a bit of skin thanks to Miki XD
Iori-chan kiiiick !!! XD

imasbreak01_0020
At the end of the book, the 2 original rival characters from the 3 im@s PSP games (the third rival being Miki, uragirimono ! XD) appear~

I’m done~

Well, in fact I wanted to write also a post about the Gurren Lagann Gakuen manga, but the thing got scanlated since a while already so it’s kind of late… man I want my internet back… orz

Nice to hear new stuff about The Idolm@ster manga, aside from what I read about the game and such at Sankaku Complex.

Seeing your scans, though, six out of the 10 heroines from The Idolm@ster and a 16-year-old protege of the Producer?

Looks like a harem setup to me… You only need the 3 girls=1 guy ratio and you have a harem. This manga doubles the number of girls.

I hope someone scanlates this into English (Mangafox or Onemanga).

Your blog rocks! Keep it that way!

    yo o/

lol, always nice to see a post from somebody I (apparantly) don’t know and which ain’t spam XD

harem, hmm… Well yeah, I’ve been waiting ages for a iM@S harem manga/anime, but this Break manga is going so obviously and innocently for the Haruka route that I didn’t feel like reading a harem manga XD

anyway I’m looking forward the second volume, want to see Chihaya growing love for the useless main guy and acting all deredere~

    thanks for visiting~

You’re welcome. Glad to meet new people each day. :)

Based on your scans, Yutaro seems to have spent time with Haruka and Yukiho, and got to know them better. But has Yutaro spent time with Chihaya, Iori, Yayoi or Miki yet? What’s the score?

And what’s with Yutaro’s male schoolmates(?) in the last page of the volume? Looks like they’re jealous that he is close to Haruka and company…XD

I also wonder if Miki will fill the seductive girl niche? (Similar to Urd or Peorth from Ah! My Goddess or Mitsune Konno from Love Hina.)

A lovestruck Chihaya will also be interesting to see (especially since she’s the moodiest out of all the Idolm@ster girls). But I still hope they will introduce the missing girls (Azusa, Ami/Mami, Makoto, Ritsuko) later in the manga…

It’s kinda ironic that I got interested in Idolm@ster thanks to images of the Im@s aircraft paintschemes in Ace Combat 6. I’ve also seen the Idolm@ster: Xenoglossia anime, but was disappointed that Miki and Kotori weren’t there. :(

Damn, still too few people know of this manga, more so willing to scanlate it… Hope that will change soon…

Anyway, do you have Yahoo! Messenger?

    >>But has Yutaro spent time with Chihaya, Iori, Yayoi or Miki yet? What’s the score?
Chihaya considers Yutaro as useless and she’s just waiting for the shachou to choose a real producer. Yutaro and Iori only spent a short moment together during the onsen chapter but surprisingly enough Iori is already all tsundere for him (guess this manga will be pretty short, 2 3 volumes perhaps). No revelant Yayoi moment in that volume. At the end of the Miki chapter, during a radio show, Miki does say that she loves Yutaro. But considering Miki’s behavior that can’t really be taken seriously. As i said, this first volume was so Haruka-oriented that you can hardly imagine any other girl taking Yutaro away from her, even Yukiho or Miki. Though, I think this manga will head to a Yutaro x Haruka x Chihaya triangle, if Chihaya grows some love for Yutaro in the second volume that is.

    >>Anyway, do you have Yahoo! Messenger?
no. I actually don’t have deh internet right now, I just connect occasionally from some internet cafe

Found someone on mangafox.com who made a scanlation of The Idolm@ster Break!:

    http://www.mangafox.com/manga/the_idolm_ster_break/

    The scanlator’s homepage:

    http://sakurasckns.wordpress.com/

Such sweet news this is for the Japanese-illiterate fans of Im@s (myself included)… Though Chapter 1 is the only chapter translated as of now… T_T

But at least you get points for giving a preview of the first volume before Sakura scanlated Chapter 1… (*Thumbs-up for the scan introducing Hibiki Ganaha and Takane Shijou in the manga*)

    >>(guess this manga will be pretty short, 2 3 volumes perhaps)
Well, part of me says, “I hope not,” while another part of me doesn’t want The Idolm@ster Break! to be as long as Bleach! or Ah! My Goddess, with the latter two still ongoing.

    >>no. I actually don’t have deh internet right now, I just connect occasionally from some internet cafe
That’s okay. I guess I understand if you don’t want to be too connected to the Internet. “Disconnecting” once in a while has its benefits, too.

hmm, your comment as been put in ‘pending’ mode because of the links, sorry

    thanks for posting them

if I still had deh internet and still were in the scanlation limbo i would have gladly helped with the translation, but sadly it ain’t really possible now…

    >>That’s okay. I guess I understand if you don’t want to be too connected to the Internet. “Disconnecting” once in a while has its benefits, too.
Actually that’s my issue. I WANT TO BE CONNECTED, I just can’t now (except from internet cafes) for some personal reasons, that’s all. orz

Being disconnected doesn’t have any benefit when you’re yourself a part of deh internet. Well I’m not that important and my contributions have been very modest, but still I always kind of wanted to be a part of ‘it’, and tried as possible to contribute with my humble manga/anime knowledge, shitty drawings and awkward translations.

Contributing is the funniest part in deh internet, and, being forcibly disconnected since one year and half, this is the thing I miss the most in life right now (which is a sad thing to say, I agree)

lol sorry for the random rant, been a while~
