Been a while without any random manga posting action. Scans are pilling up and I didn’t have so much time for posting them lately. Anyway, today’s manga post is about the adaptation of an anime from this summer season : Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou.

I happened to come across the first volume in the second-hand books some weeks ago, and oh nice coincidence volume 2 got released recently. I think this manga is kinda aimed to people familiar with the novels or the anime. But anyway, here’s a bit about the story for people who doesn’t know it : Koyomi Morishita is a highschool girl who’s often mistaken for an elementary school girl because of her short size and her klutziness. She fails at everything she does, and has hard time finding something she would good at. One day, she finds a flyer about a magic school, and decides to go find that school in order to learn magic, feeling that magic is finally the thing for her. There, she will learn of the existence of ‘Modern Magic’ (magic that can be used by anyone by using computers and codes), and finds out that she has a unique inner ability : she can dispel any code (magic spell) and turns them into metal washtub.

The anime ended not so long ago so this manga sure comes at the perfect time, bringing moar Yumiko-chan, Kaho-chan, Morishita and Misa-san goodness. Again it’s time for <3s delivery, baby. Starting right now.

It starts with random chapters introducing all the characters. Mostly stories we got to see in the anime, such as the story when Moroshita is searching for a lost cat or when hunting ‘ghost’ at school. It gets lovely Yumiko x Morishita moments right in the begining~

Then it goes chronologically, with Morishita searching for the Anehara school after she saw the flyer.

Just like in the anime (IIRC), Yumiko attacks Morishita later when she learns she’s Misa-san’s disciple.
During the fight, Morishita’s scarf gets burned. The next day, Yumiko brings a new scarf for her… but Morishita got one already XD

The second half of the book is all about Kaho-chan, and how she actually became friends with Morishita~
Starting with that happy loli Kaho-chan scene they showed in the anime, when she witnesses the ‘Chrismas Shopper’.

Kaho-chan makes her approach on Morishita when she first hears her bringing up ‘(modern) magic’ during a discussion with random classmates. Kaho-chan, who actually doesn’t really believe in magic, tells the others that Morishita is actually talking about programming.

… because when Kaho-chan told her parents about what she saw that day, her parents told her that she was dreaming and that magic doesn’t exist. But still, SHE WANTS TO BELIEVE ! XD and since then she’s been quite obsessed by that song (Daisy Daisy).
M : “Iinchou, do you like that song ?”
K : “!”
M : “Ah sorry, I didn’t want to surprise you. I just wanted to thank you for earlier”
K : “Earlier ?”
M : “Yup. That suprised me when you stepped on my foot, but you lied for me, right ? They would surely think I’m weird, bringing up magic like that…”
K : “What about me ?”
M : “Eh ?”
K : “Didn’t you think that I would find you weird too ?”
M : “Well… Since you know a lot about computers, I thought you had heard about it already. Modern magic…”
K : (Modern Magic ? It was something I had never heard of. I never saw these words even on the internet)

Then she starts sticking to Morishita for learning more about modern magic. Of course, Morishita is always willing to show some magic and make people believe in it…

… and she activates the Chrismas Shopper.

Misa-san appears, and Kaho-chan finally meets with the creator of the Chrismas Shopper~

After the Kaho-chan arc, it gets non-animated random yet nice chapters.

But Morishita takes her responsabilities, and does her possible at protecting Yumiko’s ‘privacy’ XD

Random chapter again, with Morishita getting top grade at an exam thanks to a magical pencil she got from Misa-san… XD

Since Morishita can’t hide the fact that she’s dumb any longer, Yumiko, who’s so thoughtful when it concerns Morishita, prepares a magical room in which the flow of time is magically altered (1 day is worth 1 year)… and she locks Morishita inside for 7 days for studying XD

When she finally goes out from the room, she’s like the super saiyan of studies XD

But you can so tell what happens next… XD

Still with the random chapters, Morishita decides to go in the past by using a ghost script for giving to her loli self the flyer, so she would meet with Misa-san earlier and become a super magician~ XD
Of course, Yumiko is tagging along~

But again, Morishita wants to show some magic to her loli self and ends up dispelling the ghost script.

But it wasn’t totally in vain, cause the paper she gave to her loli self is actually the paper she found 6 years later, the one which made her to go find Misa-san XD

Final Chapter : Last Days
… wait, WHAAAAAAAAAT ?!?!!!! Already ?! o_o
Where’s all the fights, the drama, that Jean-Jacques jerk and all the stuff about Digitalis and the Sorceress Library ? :o

Anyway, last chapter is about Morishita not showing up for several days because of some weird code Misa-san used on her, and of course Yumiko is worried like mad.

That code actually locked Morishita’s ability to transform codes into washtubs.
… and thanks to this, she actually became the most powerful magician ever XD

But at the same time, it caused a change in her personality : she wants to take over the world ! XD

Morishita became deh new Sephiroth and strolls around in town controlling everybody’s mind so she can get everything she wants.

M : “You and me, we can rule the world !”
Kaho-chan’s face in the bottom panel of the right page hurt me… still, I dunno if she’s sad because of what Morishita became, or because she hasn’t been chosen for ruling the world with her XD.

And the manga ends with the inevitable fight between Yumiko and Morishita.
What will happen to Earth ?! The conclusion in volume 2 !
… Wait, that’s actually the reversed final fight of the anime XD

This manga was a nice addition to the anime, since it gets many ‘slice-of-life’ stories we didn’t get in the tv show. But Japan sure knows how to ruin my fun by doing short manga like that. I mean, I was actually expecting this manga to be my regular amount of Gendai Mahou goodness… orz

New Hayate no Gotoku KITAAAAAAAAAA !!!

Do I ever have to mention again that HnG is the manga I’m most looking forward to everytimes ?

And the nice thing is that this book kept all its promises (yeah, Hyakko #5… orz). I could even say that it was one of the best books of the serie so far. The plot is moving rather slowly (well good thing I would say, don’t want it to end XD), but it gets a well-balanced amount of everything that makes HnG so awesome : romance, lulz, and combat butler action (when did the later one happen for the last time, I wonder ? XD ).

Time for random scans, intense Hina-san goodness incoming.

Izumi seems to somewhat remember that Hayate was the boy she kissed when she was younger. GO GO IZUMI ENDING !!!

Wataru gets from his mother one of the mysterious stones that Hayate and Aika-san also own, and that’s the starting point of a turn of events that will make HnG going back into combat butler mode (kinda).

Hina feels down and starts to reconsider her whole ‘I’m waiting Hayate to confess to me’ attitude, when Hayate suddenly shows up…
Hayate : “Hinagiku-san… Isn’t there anything you want to confess to me ?”

Mikado has changed the rule regarding the Sanzen’in inheritance : now the one who takes the stone from Hayate will get the inheritance. And some old chars are back for giving it a try XD

After having his ass owned many times in a few seconds, Gilbert decides to challenge Hayate to a 2 vs 2 beach-volley match, and choses Hinagiku as Hayate’s partner, thinking that she’s the frailest from the crew… AMAI ZO, Gilbert-kun ! Don’t judge a girl by her breasts size, you fool.

Because of a certain event from the previous volume, Hina believes that Hayate luvs fragile girls… and decides to act as one by losing on purpose… Kimoi~ XD (< watch/read Kannagi if you don’t get this)

But after that this Gilbert jerk made fun of Hina’s cute DFC, she turns back into the Hina-san we love~

Hina-san will have the opportunity to get again one step forward Ayumu in next volume with that ‘restaurant event’. Not mentionning that she seems to be ready to put her pride aside and to confess to Hayate sometime. But I get the feeling that Athena won’t let this happen…

Wow… Been 9 months since the previous volume. FRIKKIN MISSED THIS MANGA.

One thing I like about Hyakko is that the books themself are always made of win. This time, it gets a whole pic on the other side of the cover ! Never saw that before ! Nice stuff~
Ain’t really visible on this pic, but the back of the uncovered book gets none other than Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Jet Li XD

Volume 4 was epic on many points. As for this volume, it was… hmmm how could I say it…

Surprising.

Was epic, for sure. But not in a way you have known before. Well, that’s what make Hyakko’s quality, finally. But still… I guess it’s safe to consider this book as a ‘gaiden’ of the actual manga.

As always, read the comments below the random scans for more info, since I suck at making decent descriptions.

These 4 characters are actually the main characters of the book. The book is divised in 4 chapters, each chapter focusing on one of them.
But , the 3 first chapters are actually an arc with a plot. PLOT ? IN MY HYAKKO ? :o

Chapter 1 : Kirin
so the whole thing starts when Torako meets a cute girl that even yankees are afraid of : Kirin Muromachi (kirin : girafe, back with animal names again XD)

Kirin is one of the ‘Four Emperors'(Shitennou), meaning one of the four biggest badasses in the school.
She actually intends to be the new seitokaichou, but her rival for the election is one of the other shitennou : Takaya (hawk).

Takaya, helped by his right arm Kitsune, is ready to use any dirty trick for winning the election, like sending random guys attacking Kirin.

Wait… did my Hyakko become some fighting manga ?

chapter 2 : Shishimaru
After having pwnd the random guys, Kirin gets to fight the mid-boss brought by Kitsune, the third of the shintennou guys who’s none other than our old erobaka Shishimaru XD

Shishimaru wins the fight (like every stupid pervert, he’s uberly strong XD ), but…
Torako : “ah wait, you hit a girl ! SAITTEEEEE !!!”

Chapter 3 : Takaya
Final chapter of the seitokai arc, with Takaya’s motives being revealed, and the final fight (?!?) for being the seitokaichou.

Now, that’s really fighting manga.

Chapter 4 : Kumahiko
The chapter involving the last of the shitennou guys is actually a good old crazy Hyakko chapter~
Torako decides to help Kuma, her childhood friend and obligatory ‘guy who looks scary but is actually a shy and kind guy’, to overcome his shyness toward girls.

It gives also the opportunity to other chars to finally appear, such as Nene…

Hitsugi & Inori~

So yeah… I enjoyed it pretty much, but to be honest not as much of the previous ones. It’s just that I’m so a sucker for slice-of-life and iyashi-kei, and Hyakko was truly one of the best from this genre, so I can’t help feeling a bit disappointed. Anyway, looking forward to the next book~

We have waited 13 months for it, and it’s finally here. New Lucky Star fix.

It’s always a bit difficult to find something to say about manga as famous as Lucky Star, because you guys already know what you will find in it. Slice-of-life, random situations, light humor, otaku talk… Everything you have known before is still here. But with uber awesome art.

Now, about what this book brings new in the RakiSutaverse (more details in the random scans’ comments as usual) :

– Konata and her crew are now college students (they have graduated at the end of volume 6). But actually, we don’t really get to see their campus life.

– Yutaka, Minami and Hiyori are now second-year. Sakuraba-sensei was the teacher in charge of their class during first-year, but for their second-year it’s Kuroi-sensei. So rejoice, Nanako fans, she’ll still be around.

– 2 new characters get introduced : Izumi Watase, and Patrica Martin (!?)

Yoshimizu-sensei’s art is really at its best, making LS even more enjoyable to read. Just like volume 6, volume 7 contained a nice bunch of delicious sketches. The author has been doing lot of effort on the characters’ clothes, they all look very cool. OH MAN I MISSED YOU LUCKY STAR

As I said, we don’t really get to see Kona-chan & co as college students. We just get some hints, such as the fact that everybody got separated, except Konata and Misao who ended up in the same university.

Randomness~
First comic, first panel : I so looove Minami’s funny faces. The author is definitely the only one who can make Minami looks this funny and cute. People calling Minami a Nagato-character : you’re all so fucking wrong.
Last comic : Misao and Ayano call Kagamin ‘Hiiragi(-chan)’, but they respectively call Tsukasa ‘Tsukasa’ and ‘Hi-chan’. Kagami : “(Wait… isn’t there something wrong here ?)” XD
On a side note, there’re some unexpected developmenta between some characters. Like, Tsukasa and Ayano actually became great friends. There’s even a comic about them sending mails to each others a whole night, or going out just the two of them.

So, here’s the whole deal about Patty in this book :
As a reminder, Patty is a character who’s been created for the drama cd. Tho KyoAni gave her decent time of appearance in the anime, the author just never knew how to use her in the actual manga. So, she appeared only a few times until now.
But seems like the author finally thought of a way of using her in the story : Patty is an exchange student who comes to live at Konata’s place. But doing so, the author has actually RESETED ALL THE CHARS’ MEMORIES OF PATTY O_o
She got introduced just as if she had never appeared before, and nobody knows her. She directly joins Yutaka’s class as a second year student, making all the time they spent as first-years as if it never happened.
Really weird… but heh, now Patty gets a reason to appear more often, so I guess it’s ok… ?

Izumi is an iinchou (most likely the one of Yutaka’s class, Hiyori calls her iinchou in the last comic) but she doesn’t want anyone to know that she’s an otaku… failed at it XD

I’ve already arged many times and on many place about how I wanted to see LS characters in short stories instead of 4koma, even if it’s just once in a while. Looks like the author heard me, since he delivered a very vey VERY cute SHORT STORY, full of YutaMina goodness and awesome art.
The school is organizing some marathon event, and Yutaka and Minami get a light argument cause Yutaka doesn’t want Minami to give up on the race for looking after her. This thing was so damn cute… Hope to see more of these things in the future. GJ, Yoshimizu-sensei !

And I’m done already. I know, that was only a few scans, but since LS is all about randomness it’s hard to find comics which stand out and on which I have something to comment about.

I guess it’s about time for KyoAni to make another season, don’t you think ? The graduation event from volume 6 would come in handy for an ending to it~

Well, until then… I guess I will really have to get a PSP this chrismas for getting my next LS fix…

Today’s random scans posting action is Zettai Karen Children. I’ve been following this manga since several months already and it’s been one of my favorites, so it was about time I start posting something about it.

Starting where the anime ended. Means, when ZA CHIRUDOREN ‘grow up’ (lol).

A few words about this manga for people who ain’t into it. ZKC is a shounen (I think ?) manga that we can somewhat summarize like this : X-men with lolis. In a world in which ESPers live among normal people, japanese government has created a group called BABEL that hire ESPers for fighting against terrorists and criminals (humans or ESPers). And that BABEL group happens to have the three most powerful ESPers in the world (Level 7) working for them. But these three level 7 ESPers are actually three little girls with horrible personalities. XD Then, it’s mostly a succession of lulz and fighting action, with a bit of seriousness when they eventually meet other ESPer groups who want to start a war between ESPers and normal people.

Ok now time for the scans~

When I saw the first time how they look like now, and that there are now middle-schooler, I thought they had at least 15 ^^;

So middle-schoolers CHIRUDOREN’s adventures start with an adorable Aoi-chan chapter, which makes me think again that Aoi-chan is definitely the one for Minamoto. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Again, it’s time for some SoraMani random scans posting action.

Volume 6 was all about the crew’s summer vacation. It was (as usual) filled with intense love & piece, iyashi-kei, and a bit of melancholy with some of the characters wondering about what they would do after graduation, about their future and stuffs. A very nice book which reminded of Hyakko volume 4.

Be careful, incoming scans contains major dose of moe.

Starts with obligatory Tanabata chapter and yukata service~
The girl on the left, next to Hime’s friends Emiri and Mayu, is Aiko. She appeared several times before, and she’s actually one of the cutest little things of this manga. But since she’s actually dating that horrible chonmage guy, I never felt like posting pics of her before… >_>

After that, it gets a very large part about the network going on obligatory camp, during which they are making their very own hand-made telescope.
Just like in the previous volume with Akina, one of the numerous super cute sub-characters gets spotlight in this book, and gets many many love points.
So this time, it’s An-san.
She appeared many times before. She’s the stars otaku combi’s kouhai. She became the new ‘leader’ of the network after that Oumi-tan and the otaku combi graduated. And let me tell you straight : she fills this book with delicate lovelyness and gentle moe.
The new #1 SoraMani super lovely sub-chara. AN-SAN IS PURE IMMACULATE LOVE.
On a side note, we get a new otaku duo~

Okay I’ve read volume 5 about a week ago, so it’s about time I throw some random scans.

Nothing to say in particular about it, nor many scans to post. A school year ends, a new one begins. Some characters graduates and leaves the story, and some new characters are introduced. Well, there isn’t as many new characters as in previous volumes though. It’s some kind of tradition in each SoraMani volumes to bring many cuties, but this book only contained one new cutie, surprisingly enough.

No drama, a bit of melancholy when seeing some of characters parting with the crew, but as always many many MANY relaxing love & piece.

I guess it’s enough for an intro.

It’s been a while that I haven’t bought something new.

Ani Koi (アニコイ)

No, that ain’t a bro-con manga. AniKoi stands for ‘Anime mitai ni Koi shitai’ (I want to live a love story like the ones in anime). This is a manga I saw in an advertising paper some months ago, and when it has been released last week at the japanese library I haven’t waited long before buying it. Why ? ‘Cause personally, I’m totally fond of otaku-related manga such as Genshiken or Otaku no Musume-san.

Well, the full title tells enough about the story. The main character is a cute looking guy who happens to be a hardcore otaku. He has a dream that I think we otaku have all : he wants his life to be like a rabukome anime. I finally gave a read at this book yesterday, and I can say that it’s a very promising manga.

I ended up scanning a nice bunch from it. So just as I usually do for new manga, I’ll be posting random scans while adding notes about the story, letting you choose if it can be relevent to your interests or not, instead of trying to convince you by any prices to read it.

The main guy, Takatoki. Quite popular because of his cute face, but he is only interested in a love like the ones in anime, an Ani Koi~
If you’re wondering about the dragon, it’s his imaginary ‘friend’, and the actual narrator of the story.

His childhood friend Chiyoko, that everyone misread as Inoko.

But that’s some kind of a recurrent gag since everybody calls her with a different name everytime~
Yankee girl with kansai accent, and the strongest badass in town XD

Seeing such a peculiar girl, Takatoki immediately grows love for her. XD

The next day, Takatoki searches for the girl, but he can’t remember her name, nor her face without fake eyebrows XD
(As you have noticed, he’s our good ol’helpless guy)

They come across a jerk who is recruiting members for his club, by attacking people with a shinai.
Chiyoko is the only one avoiding the attack successfully, so the guy invites Chiyoko to join his club~
You can guess her answer~ :p

And hawt seitokaichou appears~
But man… Her name is Anjolinajolie Azuchi XD (typo intended)
Seriously !? XD
I thought it was some kind of nickname related to her hawtness, but that’s her true firstname indeed XD
Everybody calls her Jolina (except the jerk here who calls her Angeliko).
But man… lol XD

The weird guy is actually the Anime Club President, Fumon Jionji (awesome name again XD ).
I dunno about the drama CD (yup there’s one), but (my) image CV : Katsuyuki Konishi XD (Kamina in Gurren Lagann)

Next day again, Chiyoko finds out that the weird cosplay girl is actually a girl from their school, Yotsugi Asazuma.

Good (?) pick, since the guy is actually an elitist otaku (you know, those guys who love ghibli films, Monster and ‘high-quality’ anime, and despite moe anime)

They’re all wrong in their head, but they do have a serious project for the bunkasai though :
making their own animation.

I must confess that the ‘awesome gundam cosplay’ reference was the thing that definitely made me think ‘MUST GET THIS BOOK’ XD

This book reminded me of Genshiken on many points. But mainly as the fact that finally, the main character isn’t the male lead Takatoki, but Chiyoko. Just like Saki in Genshiken, she’s a ‘normal’ girl who’s in love with an otaku, and eventually has to stick with a bunch of freaks. And I felt like the manga was focusing a bit more on that than on Takatoki’s romance(s). After all, that’s Chiyoko the anime club wants, not Takatoki. XD

But well… unlike Genshiken, Ani Koi is way more crazier, less realistic and gets more of rabukome elements, so no that ain’t Genshiken ripoff. Anyway, it was a very nice read, and I’m looking forward the next volume~

One last thing. You can call me sick, but because every girls in manga are cute and have nice bodies, let me say this : NATSUKO-CHAN MOEEEE~ ! XD

No seriously, it’s fun to see a fatty-chan in a manga once in a while. XD

Today’s random scans posting action is about a manga I fell in love with recently, which also is actually being animated : Sora no Manimani.

I decided to check this manga when I saw the news about it being animated about 3 months ago in Newtype. Well, I will start by saying this :

If you’re not already reading/watching this, you fail.

I won’t talk about the story ’cause well… it actually doesn’t get much of a story. This is a ‘slice-of-life’ manga about an astronomy club, an iyashi-kei manga filled with Love & Piece, comedy, and a very bit of drama. If you’re into this, you just can’t miss it.

And more importantly… You never saw such a high concentration of cute girls in a manga in you life, EVAR. From the main characters, to the unnamed background sub-characters, this manga gets nothing but lovely female characters.

Ok, I guess it’s enough for an introduction. Now let’s spread many <3s as usual~

As I said at the beginning of this post, the anime is actually being aired. I don’t find the character design to be as cute as in the manga, but that’s still a very cute and enjoyable show. I like the opening very much~

Some weeks ago, I came across the first volume of a iM@S manga at Book-Off.

Since I wasn’t expecting anything good from it, I put that book way back in my reading queue, and I finally gave it a read some days ago.

As a iM@S fanboy, I had to make a post about it. And well, made already a post about ‘Break !’ (see here) so I had to make a post about this one too.

‘relations’ is a 2 volumes-long manga which as been released last year. The art isn’t as good as in ‘Break’, and it gets 0 service, but I must say that I found the story way, WAY better. Yup, surprisingly enough, the story is rather interesting, making it the best iM@S related manga I’ve read so far.

As I did for ‘Break’, I won’t go for a long summary of the story, so I’ll just throw the usual random scans with comments.

Unlike ‘Break’, ‘relations’ features all the idols from the game, but the main character is actually Miki.

A short time after having recruited Miki, Producer-san decides to make her start as a member of a trio unit, the ‘Namco Angels’, with Iori and Yukiho.
Surprisingly, the author’s choice works and it ends up being a rather cute trio~, GJ !

In this manga, Chihaya is already a top idol, nicknamed ‘the idol who never smiles’. She was Producer-san’s former protégé, but they ‘broke up’ for some mysterious reason, which is apparantly why she constantly has this sad face.

On the other side, Producer-san decides to use her new protégé’s bright smile as her #1 charm point (who said that her main charm point was her breasts ?).

But when the trio finally gets some popularity, Producer-san decides to disband it so Miki can make her solo debut.

Then, Miki starts feeling all lonely, and misses Iori and Yukiho. That was cute~

But after some words from her two friends, Miki finally gets a grip of herself.
M : ” ‘Top Idol’ is the summit, right ?”
P : “?”
M : “It’s the best, right ?”
P : “Well, yeah.”
M : “Everybody will have to do what I say, right ?”
P : “Well… That’s a bad way to put it, but yeah in this business you can have this kind of power…”
M : “Then, I’ll become a Top Idol ! You said that I should have an objective ? Then I’ll become a Top idol, I’ll become famous enough to be able to go against your decisions, and reform the Namco Angels. That’s my objective.”

At the very end of the book, we get to see what actually happened between Chihaya and Producer-san.
Chihaya is a genius who lives only for the music, but because of that she always has been alone. One day, a beginner producer joins the Namco prod., and becomes the one in charge of Chihaya.

This new producer actually has some knowledge about music, and Chihaya finally finds somebody she can share her passion with.

But because of Chihaya’s high abilities, Producer-san starts to feel useless, and says to Chihaya that she doesn’t need him anymore.

From here starts a race for the Idol Master Grand Prix between the ‘Egao no Tensai’ and the ‘Egao no nai idol’~
